2023 Backyard Sanctioning Application

 

 

Sanctioning Package 1 (Price $75)

 Included in the price is the following:

  1. The Backyard BBQ Organizer will receive a 1-year membership in the Iowa BBQ Society ($25.00 Value).
  2. If already a member price of package 1 would go down to $50 for year end of membership
  3. Chicken & Rib Categories are required be part of the organizers contest! NO EXCEPTIONS
  4. Includes one (1) PDF Word Document of the IBS Backyard BBQ Rules.
  5. Includes one (1) PDF Word Document on how to score the contest.
  6. Includes one (1) PDF Word Document containing the Judges Score Card & Table Card
  7. Includes one (1) PDF Spreadsheet of Certified KCBS BBQ Judges.
  8. Includes one (1) PDF Word Document containing the Judges Sign-In Sheet (All judges will be required to sign the sheet with their name and KCBS Judges number).
  9. Includes a sanctioning document which will contain the following information and will be filled out completely & sent to the Society in order to be a “Sanctioned” Contest:
  10. Name of Contest
  11. Date of the Contest
  12. Signature of Organizer
  13. Date the document was signed
  14. The document must be returned to the Iowa BBQ Society along with a check, no less than 45 days before a contest is to be held.
  15. The document will state that all organizers are responsible for making sure all sanctioning rules are followed correctly, and any/all organizers will use no less than 90%KCBS Certified BBQ Judges (100% Certified Judges is always preferred).
  16. There will be “NO” representative from the Iowa BBQ Society on site the day of the contest!
  17. 2 Iowa BBQ Society Certified Backyard Reps phone numbers to call with any/all questions at anytime prior to and including the day of the contest will be given to the organizer.
  18. Organizers will run and score their contest themselves according to the Iowa BBQ Society Backyard Rules & Regulations.
  19. Organizers will be required to email photos of the Judges Sign-In sheet to one of the 2 Backyard Reps. This will ensure Certified KCBS BBQ Judges were at the contest.

 

Sanctioning Package 2 (Price $225)

Included in the price is the following:

  1. The Backyard BBQ Organizer will receive a 1 year membership in the Iowa BBQ Society
  2. Chicken & Rib Categories are required be part of the organizers contest! NO EXCEPTIONS.
  3. Includes one (1) PDF Word Document of the IBS Backyard BBQ Rules.
  4. Includes Judges Placemat’s & Scorecards, enough for up to 15teams/judges (for every additional five teams it would be an extra$15.00). These will be mailed directly to the organizer 1 week before their contest.
  5. Includes one (1) PDF Spreadsheet of Certified KCBS BBQ Judges.
  6. Includes one (1) PDF Word Document containing the Judges Sign-In Sheet (All judges will be required to sign the sheet with their nameand KCBS Judges number).
  7. Includes a sanctioning document which will contain the following information and will be filled out completely & sent to the Society in order to be a “Sanctioned” Contest:
  8. Name of Contest
  9. Date of the Contest
  10. Signature of Organizer
  11. Date the document was signed
  12. The document must contain “Turn-In” Times for each category
  13. The document must be returned to the Iowa BBQ Society along with a check, no less than 45 days before contest is to be held.
  14. The document will state that all organizers are responsible for making sure all sanctioning rules are followed correctly, and any/all organizers will use no less than 90%KCBS Certified BBQ Judges (100% Certified Judges is preferred). 
  15. Includes one (1) Iowa BBQ Society Certified Backyard Rep assigned directly to your contest.  The reps phone number & email will also be provided. The rep will be available for any/all questions at anytime prior to and including the day of the contest.
  16. This rep will be "ON SITE" scoring your contest the day of your event.  

 

ORGANIZERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

• Organizers are responsible one (1) week before the contest, to provide the Rep a “Team” list with numbers assigned to each team.

- If the event is providing the meat for the contest. The event will provide enough chicken and pork ribs for the teams to turn in 6 portions of each. 

minimum 6 chicken legs, chicken thighs, or chicken wings

minimum 2 racks of pork ribs

Special Note to All Contest Organizers

All Contest Organizers shall submit the following to the Iowa BBQ Society 90 days “PRIOR” to their contest date(s): A list of prizes, all prizes and a duly executed instrument guaranteeing payment or delivery of such money or other prizes by Organizer.  A Certificate of insurance with the Iowa BBQ Society named as an insured on a certificate of insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000.00 per incident and 2,000,000.00 in aggregate.
