Iowa Barbecue Society
Our History
The Iowa Barbeque Society (IBS) was organized in the spring of 1998 by a few barbeque-starved enthusiasts devoted to having
fun. Our membership is comprised of barbeque enthusiasts at all levels. Some members own barbeque restaurants or barbeque
specialty retail stores. Others are certified barbeque judges or barbeque contest competitors. Many are just backyard chefs, but all have one thing in common, their love of barbeque. We hope to expand the society to all borders of Iowa with the sweet smoke of good barbeque and friendship.
Our Mission
The Iowa Barbeque Society is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the promotion of outdoor cooking through numerous educational and charitable activities. Encouraging all Iowans to develop an appreciation for barbeque and outdoor cooking, the group sponsors numerous fundraisers and charitable events for the promotion of barbeque as well as the better- ment of our neighborhoods and communities less fortunate.
